MultiRake Perforated Plate Screen GVS - High Capture Screen
Screening in the wastewater sector keeps advancing, with new options for both existing and new applications appearing every few years. Manual bar racks were the first effort to keep debris out of the treatment process. They were followed by reciprocating rake bar screens (climber screens) and then multiple‑rake screens. Bar screens still offer strong protection in many settings, such as pump protection or first‑stage screening in an MBR process.
Many bar screens have been in service for decades and are now reaching the end of their useful life. Wastewater treatment plants are using this as an opportunity to install the next generation of headworks screens—and these use holes rather than bars.
Independent tests show that perforated plate screens deliver higher capture rates, reaching up to 85% depending on the design, while bar‑type screens typically capture less than 35%.
A leading option in this new generation is the SAVI® GVS Multi‑Rake Perforated Plate Screen. In this distinctive MultiRake design, stainless steel perforated plate replaces bars to achieve higher debris capture. Multiple wipers clear the plate and move the collected material to discharge.
The MultiRake Perf can be fitted in conventional channels at 75 degrees, or vertically at 90 degrees for deep, narrow channels and wet wells. A tank‑mounted version is available for pumped flows. Its low‑maintenance design makes it a strong choice for remote sites.
SAVI MultiRake Perf screens have operated in textile facilities for years. If a nursing home, hospital, prison, or textile plant needs a screen or is discharging to a WWTP, this MultiRake design is an excellent fit.
